My Nursing Background

Before Healthy7, nursing was my first calling.

I spent 14 years working in large hospitals in China, including one year in Obstetrics, ten years as a Diabetes Educator Nurse, and three years in an Oncology Chemotherapy Centre.

These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the role nutrition, lifestyle, education, and long-term support play in recovery and quality of life.

After immigrating to Canada, I obtained my Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) license and worked for six years as a Community Pediatric Nurse, supporting children and families in their homes and communities.

Over the years, I have cared for patients at every stage of life—from newborns and new mothers to individuals managing chronic illness, cancer treatment, and recovery.

What I learned again and again was this:

Recovery does not happen through medical treatment alone.

People also need nourishment, education, practical support, and someone who understands what they are going through.

My Own Recovery Journey

But Healthy7 did not begin as a business idea.

It began with my own recovery journey.

After the birth of my first child, I experienced firsthand how difficult postpartum recovery can be when a mother does not receive the nourishment, support, and care she truly needs.

Like many new mothers, I spent my days caring for my baby while putting my own needs last.

My baby cried frequently and needed constant attention. I slept only a few hours each night and struggled to find the time and energy to care for myself. I experienced challenges with breastfeeding, exhaustion, poor memory, chronic fatigue, and ongoing pain in my neck, shoulders, arms, and back.

Even as a nurse, I found myself overwhelmed.

That experience changed the way I viewed recovery.

I realized that recovery after childbirth is often underestimated. Many mothers are expected to care for a newborn while healing physically, emotionally, and mentally at the same time.

And far too many women are doing it without enough support.

The Beginning of WoHeBaoBei

In 2012, I created "Wohebaobei.com" (我和宝贝), a Chinese parenting education website based in Toronto.

The goal was simple: to provide practical, evidence-informed parenting information and support for Chinese-speaking families around the world.

Drawing on my nursing experience, parenting journey, and understanding of both Eastern and Western approaches to maternal and infant care, I wanted to help families feel more confident as they navigated pregnancy, postpartum recovery, newborn care, feeding, and parenting.

Over time, I realized that information alone was not enough.

Many mothers understood what they should be doing to recover—but they simply did not have the time, energy, support, or resources to do it.

Why I Started Making Postpartum Meals

My own recovery experience inspired me to study postpartum nutrition more deeply.

I began learning about traditional postpartum foods, recovery-focused nutrition, and the role food plays in rebuilding strength and supporting healing.

At first, I simply cooked postpartum meals for neighbors and friends who had recently given birth.

Something interesting happened.

The mothers who received these meals often felt better, recovered more comfortably, and had one less thing to worry about during an already overwhelming season of life.

What started as a small effort to help other mothers gradually grew into a professional postpartum meal service through WoHeBaoBei.com (我和宝贝). Today, that work continues and expands through Healthy7.

Since 2012, I have had the privilege of supporting more than 5,000 families across Toronto and the GTA through postpartum meals, recovery meals, education, and practical support.

Food is More Than Nutrition

Over the years, I have learned that food is about much more than calories, nutrients, or meal plans.

Food can provide comfort.

Food can reduce stress.

Food can create space for rest.

Food can remind people that they are worthy of care.

For many women, receiving nourishing meals during recovery is one of the first ways they begin caring for themselves again.

That realization eventually shaped the philosophy behind Healthy7.

The Evolution of Healthy7

As the years passed, I noticed that postpartum mothers were not the only people struggling to find practical nutrition support.

Families recovering from surgery.

Individuals recovering from illness.

Caregivers supporting loved ones.

Busy families trying to eat healthier.

Many people understood the importance of nutrition, but lacked the time, energy, or support to make it happen consistently.

Healthy7 grew from this understanding — that food is one of the foundations of recovery and everyday wellbeing.

Today, Healthy7 brings together Chinese nourishment, real food, modern nutrition, and practical support to make nourishing yourself easier during recovery and everyday life.

What began with postpartum meals has grown into a broader vision: bringing the wisdom of Chinese nourishment into modern life in a practical, approachable way.

Continuing My Learning Journey

The longer I worked in recovery nutrition, the more I recognized the importance of a holistic approach to health.

In 2024, I enrolled in a full-time Traditional Chinese Medicine program in Ontario to deepen my understanding of food therapy, recovery, and whole-person wellness.

At the same time, I began reflecting on my own health.

Years of caregiving, entrepreneurship, long work hours, and supporting others had also taken a toll on me.

Like many women, I found myself learning an important lesson:

Caring for others must also include caring for yourself.

Today, I continue learning how to nourish my own health through balanced nutrition, movement, rest, lifestyle changes, and Traditional Chinese Medicine principles.

It is an ongoing journey—one that reminds me every day that healing, recovery, and wellbeing are not destinations, but lifelong practices.

My Mission

My mission is simple.
